The Yoccoz inequality is a fundamental result in complex dynamics which bounds the geometry of the Mandelbrot set. For over thirty years experimental evidence has suggested that the Yoccoz inequality could be improved, but no progress has been made towards proving this result. In this talk we will show how, by using parabolic implosion and putting elephants in cages, to produce the first examples in the Mandelbrot set where an optimal Yoccoz inequality holds.
