Recognizing materials, objects and scenes is one of the most useful functions of vision. Understanding this ability in humans, and reproducing it in machines is a grand challenges for scientists, mathematicians and engineers. We will focus on the computational and statistical foundations of visual recognition. The program will be organized around special topics including: machine learning and statistical models, the role of context and language, recognition of human activities, features, shape matching, the structure and functional role of hierarchies and taxonomies. Sessions will include surveys and critiques of existing approaches in addition to presentations of the latest research results. Poster sessions will give all workshop participants to present their research. Confirmed speakers: Amit, Freeman, Geman, Grill-Spector, Harrison, Huttenlocher, Lowe, Malik, Mumford, Perona, Schmid, Ullman, Younes. Workshop Schedule All sessions will be held in the Second Floor lecture Hall. Daily Schedule 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Teas will be served at 10:30-11:00 AM and 3:00-3:30 PM daily.
