Description
This conference will be devoted to cutting-edge developments in geometric group theory. We expect that the talks will cover aspects of the following topics: CAT(0)-spaces and CAT(0)-cubical complexes, hyperbolic and relatively hyperbolic groups, automorphism groups of free groups and surface groups, self-similar groups, Coxeter groups and Artin groups, lattices in Lie groups and Kac-Moody groups, asymptotic dimension, measurable group theory, and limit groups. The following people have agreed to give one hour lectures: Jason Behrstock Martin Bridson Indira Chatterji Alexander Dranishnikov Jan Dymara Alex Eskin David Fisher Koji Fujiwara Vincent Guirardel Michael Handel Tadeusz Januszkiewicz Larsen Louder Jason Manning Dan Margalit Volodymyr Nekrashevych Denis Osin Panagiotis Papazoglou Thomas Putman Bertrand Remy Yehuda Shalom Anne Thomas Karen Vogtmann This workshop is partially supported by a grant from Collaborative Research Center 701, University of Bielefeld, funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The organizers and MSRI acknowledge the assistance of Professor Herbert Abels in this project.   A block of rooms has been reserved at the Rose Garden Inn. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-992-9005 OR directly on their website. Click on Corporate at the bottom of the screen and when prompted enter code MATH (this code is not case sensitive). By using this code a new calendar will appear and will show MSRI rate on all room types available. The following Group Code should be entered in the "Comment" field when booking through our Website. Group Code = CGGGT2. Please note: The Original Queen room type does not have an in-room T1 connection, but we do have WIFI available in our main lobby area. The cut-off date for reservations is October 12, 2007. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Durant. Please mention the workshop name and reference the following code when making reservations via phone, fax or e-mail: WU0000. The cut-off date for reservations is October 5, 2007. The schedule of talks found below is tentative.
