Abstract The aim of this talk is to provide an overview of recent work concerning local energy and pointwise decay estimates for solutions to the linear wave equation and for the Maxwell equation on black hole backgrounds. This includes joint work with Jason Metcalfe, Jacob Sterbenz and Mihai Tohaneanu
