This 2-day workshop will consist of four minicourses on classical topics in geometric group theory, each consisting of two hours of lectures plus associated discussion sessions. The lecturers and topics will be:
Goulnara Arzhantseva: Gromov's polynomial growth theorem
Lisa Carbone: Bass-Serre/Rips theory of group actions
Genevieve Walsh: Thurston's classification of surface automorphisms
Anna Wienhard: Mostow rigidity
Participants will be asked to contribute a one- or two-page PDF poster advertising their own research. These will be compiled into a booklet to be distributed to all registered participants. Group photo of workshop participants

Students, recent PhDs, women, and members of underrepresented minorities are particularly encouraged to apply. Funding awards are typically made 6 weeks before the workshop begins. Requests received after the funding deadline are considered only if additional funds become available.
