  1. Math & Cultural [External Event] Film Screening of "Journeys of Black Mathematicians" at MAA MathFest 2024 (Indianapolis, IN)

    The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) will host a screening of Journeys of Black Mathematicians: Forging Resilience at the 2024 MAA MathFest conference taking place at the JW Marriott Indianapolis, Indiana. Conference registration is required to attend the screening on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 2:30-3:45pm Central Time.

  4. Special Events [NSF Math Institutes] Blackwell-Tapia Conference 2024 (Providence, RI)

    The NSF Mathematical Sciences Institutes Diversity Committee hosts the 2024 Blackwell-Tapia Conference and Award Ceremony. The Blackwell-Tapia Prize recognizes a mathematical scientist who has made outstanding contributions to research in their field of expertise and served as a role model for mathematical scientists and students from underrepresented groups, or has contributed in significant ways to addressing the underrepresentation of minorities in math. The 2024 recipient of the Blackwell-Tapia Prize is Dr. Illya Hicks, Professor and Department Chair of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations Research at Rice University.

  7. Scientific (Organizational Outreach) International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2026 (Philadelphia, PA)

    The International Congress of Mathematicians will be held July 23-30, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The congress coincides with 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the 40th anniversary of the last ICM was held in the United States.

    The ICM offers a rare opportunity to meet some of the world's leading mathematicians and be inspired by the vast diversity of today’s mathematics. The official website of the Congress is www.icm2026.org. Further information regarding ICM 2026 will be made available in due course; registration will open in January 2025.
