Description
As part of the full-year 2000-2001 program on Operator Algebras, MSRI will host a one-week NATO ADVANCED RESEARCH WORKSHOP on Simple C*-algebras and Non-commutative Dynamical Systems, September 25-29, 2000. This workshop covers two closely allied areas in operator algebras. The first significant applications of the ongoing classification of simple nuclear C*-algebras has provided important new invariants for the study of dynamical systems. On the other hand, dynamical systems provide a valuable source of new examples of simple C*-algebras. It is anticipated that there will be considerable interaction between the two groups coming to the workshop.
