In 2016, MSRI and Illustrative Math partnered to bring educators a webinar series connected to the themes of the National Math Festival. The featured talks were on the topic of Speaking of Mathematics Education: Productive Conversations with Families. Other Professional Development Activities
In addition, to these professional development activities, MSRI has in the past sponsored Math Circle training and mentoring workshops throughout the Bay Area and the United States, some of which host activities especially for teachers. Although not affiliated with MSRI, the Bay Area Math Teachers Circle provides opportunities for educators to explore and share effective problem-solving approaches to teaching mathematics. The emphasis is to show teachers some beautiful and entertaining mathematics as opposed to telling them what or how they should teach.
